Besides the job itself, what do you value that Henkel offers its interns?
I think Henkel is very strong when it comes to involving interns in its business. The company shows that it has a strong interest in its interns and that it wants to help them grow. For example, just in the International Marketing department, several Brand Managers started their careers as interns at Henkel. My understanding is that the opportunity to join a program like “Career Track” is not very common and is an incentive for students/interns. How well interns are integrated into the business is expressed in the objective orientation and the variable remuneration that I have never experienced in an internship before.

How was your development during your internship – who or what influenced it?
I think I had a strong development during my internship. It is not just that you get a limited task but you experience all the things a brand manager has to do. As I have never done an internship in International Marketing before, I was confronted with new and challenging tasks. With increasing experience and the support of my mentor, I learned how to manage these challenging tasks.

Besides the job itself, what do you value that Henkel offers its interns?

How was your development during your internship – who or what influenced it?
Being able to work in both the laboratory (aerosol area) and the hair dresser studio was great. It's very interesting to see the process from the creation of a new product until it is actually used.

Which important tasks we are distracting you from with this interview?
I'm just writing down some short notes of my tasks from last week – at 11 am we have our weekly conference call to keep all team members informed about proceedings of current projects. I've been an intern at Henkel Finance-Purchasing for four and a half months and within this frame a member of the Contract Manufacturing and Traded Goods-Team of Henkel's cosmetic division. Main focus of the team is the global sourcing and development of strategic partnerships with toll manufacturers producing Henkel's cosmetic products.

Tell us what surprised you the most about your internship?
The most significant surprise for me emerged already at the very beginning of my internship when I experienced how much responsibility and respect you get from all the other employees within and outside your department. In the early stages of your internship you get your own projects in which you can incorporate your own ideas and find possible solutions. However, it is always aligned by feedback and help of experienced managers who are really willing to support you.

What is the first thing that comes to your mind, when I ask you about 'the Henkelaner'?
鸿利0163,鸿利0166,鸿利线路 A multinational and open-minded culture – I appreciate how people at Henkel behave and discuss the issues at work with you but also the daily life outside the company. Especially the huge diversity of national backgrounds of Henkel's employees is so impressive that it makes you even more interested in meeting many different people from across the whole world.

Besides the job itself, what do you value that Henkel offers its interns?
The fact that Henkel values its interns is also shown by the great organization of events like BBQs and dinners to offer Henkel's interns the chance to get-together and exchange their minds. For my part, I really like the so called intern-lunch where all the interns of different departments can have lunch together twice a week.

How was your development during your internship – who or what influenced it?
鸿利0163,鸿利0166,鸿利线路 My personal development during the internship was kind of dynamic and rapid – after six weeks it was already my turn to conduct presentations about my own projects in one of our regular workshops. Important persons for my development are my two mentors who give me the space to develop and present creative ideas and always give great feedback on it. Furthermore, I always find a sympathetic ear in the team for any problems or ideas!

That's for sure. Reviewing the time, I'm really happy that I decided to do a six-months-internship at Henkel. First of all the complexity in Henkel's product portfolio is so complex that you need some time get a profound understanding of it. Which important tasks we are distracting you from with this interview?
Right now I am preparing the launch of a new online activity on www.weisserriese.de鸿利0163,鸿利0166,鸿利线路 . This is one of the major projects that I assume sole responsibility for. Based on the overall idea to boost sales of our Weißer Riese Color products, I contacted our Internet agency and developed an online concept with them to trigger our customers' interest in Color products. Due to the fact that the site will be published next week, I am quite busy coordinating things with our internet agency, the advertising agency and cooperating partners, who provide incentives to the customer within the scope of this new online activity.

Tell us what surprised you the most about your internship?
鸿利0163,鸿利0166,鸿利线路 I was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and ambition of my colleagues. The job is quite involving and demanding, nonetheless you can tell that people here at Henkel love what they do. Although you are only one person among 5000 people working at Henkel Düsseldorf, you feel like part of a family, because the working atmosphere is very friendly and open-hearted.

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when I ask you about “the Henkelaner”?
Henkelaner are very open-minded and friendly. To me Henkelaner are extraordinarily helpful and fair people, which make them good team players. Moreover, they do not belong to one nationality, but reflect a very diverse mentality and international culture.

Besides the job itself, what do you value that Henkel offers its interns?
At first, it's great to be part of an intern group comprising around 500 interns in Düsseldorf per year. During the intern lunches twice a week, you easily get into contact with other students. This way you meet people from around the globe, since the interns are quite diverse and international. Furthermore, intern-specific activities are organized by Henkel, like Henkel-tours, after-work pub-crawls or city-specific events, which you can register for on the intranet or the Henkel Facebook group.

How was your development during your internship – who or what influenced it?
鸿利0163,鸿利0166,鸿利线路 I improved my practical knowledge and professional skills a lot. In addition to being in direct contact with our agencies and being involved in internal and external meetings, this was mainly driven by my supervisors. I was integrated into the daily business and my mentors showed an interest in me as a person, willing to support my personal goals. The fact that I had my own projects set within the scope of the Target Dialogue* challenged my problem-solving, analytical and time management skills. I was able to participate in trainings on certain programs and analysis tools employed by Henkel.

Interview with Amaury, CEMS Students

Which important tasks we are distracting you from with this interview?
鸿利0163,鸿利0166,鸿利线路 Basically, from my job in international supply chain management. I coordinate projects and people to ensure an integrated information flow. Communication is key in my field of work. At the end of the day, everyone has to be on the same page. Right now, we are preparing a plant transfer from Paris to Lyon, which involves many conference calls, planning, and of course Excel sheets.

Tell us what surprised you the most about your internship?
I was seriously surprised by the amount of direct responsibility I got from day one. However, I think this might also depend on the mentor. My boss demanded leadership qualities from an early stage and rewarded me with a lot of freedom in how to do my work. In the end, only results count. The involvement and the openness of the people at Henkel were also surprising.

What is the first thing that comes to mind, when I ask you about the people at Henkel?
Above all, the intern culture comes to mind. Even outside of Henkel, we hang out together. We often have parties Friday nights at my place, which I share with another Henkel intern.
鸿利0163,鸿利0166,鸿利线路 I appreciate the diversity at Henkel. The Henkel interns come from all around the world, and I enjoy meeting and getting to know them at Henkel.

Besides the job itself, what do you value that Henkel offers its interns?
Since I am a CEMS student, I appreciate the close contact between Henkel and CEMS.
去年,我参加了在布达佩斯举行的CEMS职业论坛,代表汉高。 I think it is great that my involvement is valued and supported at Henkel. Plus, I had a super nice hotel room with a Jacuzzi, which was cool.
Furthermore, I enjoy the intern lunches twice a week. It is nice to get in touch with Henkel's large intern community, meeting interns from other areas and functions that I am usually not directly involved with is an opportunity to learn about other departments and areas.

How was your development during your internship – who or what influenced it?
Actually I got the offer to do an internship at one of the CEMS events in which Henkel participated. There I met my current boss Ralf Heumann at the CEMS Career Forum. We had a long talk and at the end he said: “I like you, when do you want to start?” This was all it took for me to get hired by Henkel. And this is how I got here.
I definitely learned to be more direct, to take the initiative and to be less shy. My tasks involve talking to other managers and employees. Some of them have 30 years of experience and I have to ask them to do something for me. I had to learn how to properly communicate, but at the same time make a name for myself, in order to be a respectable co-worker and to get my tasks done.
